Outline:

This workshop involves a practical ‘hands-on’ approach to learning the key components and skills for bringing puppets to life.

Participants will:

  • learn about the different types of puppets
  • gain confidence in the development and use of character voices
  • become competent in basic puppet skills such as lip sync and movement
  • discuss strategies for dealing with different responses from children
  • enjoy meeting and creating a variety of multi-talented characters

Participants will have an opportunity to develop story lines and short presentations to address the themes and issues which can arise in our work with children and families.

Participants are encouraged to bring a puppet character.

The presenter, Chris Burke is a self-taught puppeteer with over 20 years experience including theatre-in-education, counselling children and families, video performances, as well as keynote presenter and dinner entertainer at numerous conferences and forums.
